Tour Plan

1
Day 1: Arrival to Lisbon
Arrival to Lisboa Airport. Meet your driver for a private airport transfer (15-30 min.). For your added comfort, we will have an English-speaking driver waiting for you at the Arrivals Hall with a sign with your name on it. The private driver will drive and accompany you to your centrally located Heritage Avenida Liberdade Hotel. Overnight in Lisboa.   Suggested optional: upgrade to a tour guide to escort you all the way, from the Airport Arrivals Hall to the hotel Reception; hotel upgrade to the Bairro Alto Hotel.

Day 2: Lisboa Gastronomic Walking Tour & Fado night with dinner
Meet up with your specialized private guide to embark on a 3-hour gastronomic walking tour through Lisbon, becoming acquainted with the city's traditional snacks and delicacies with numerous tastings included along the way. By the end of the tour, you'll be familiar with the best cafes of the downtown and Chiado areas, the specialties of famous pastry shops, as well as the Ginjinhas around Rossio Square and Lisbon's traditional taverns. A true delight for the senses, while you take in the lay of the land around the Lisbon. With private transfers arranged both to and from the venue, experience live Fado this evening at an excellent local Fado restaurant - Casa de Linhares. Fado refers to the national song style of Portugal which developed in Lisbon in the early 19th century. Its importance to the culture of the city is so significant that Fado now falls under UNESCO protection. Enjoy the great ambiance of dinner and song as you dine on a complete meal with wine and coffee, backed by the sounds of Lisbon's rich heritage. Day 3: Full day Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Cascais & Estoril tour
Depart on a scenic coastal drive, spotting several sandy beaches hidden within the cliffs, protected by the 17th century fortresses along the coast. Arrive to the beautiful resort town of Estoril, famous as the home of the Casino Estoril and Hotel Palácio, known rendezvous points for WWII spies and their handlers, while Portugal remained politically neutral. Take a stroll on the Tamariz Beach promenade, admiring the 17th century Forte da Cruz castle, set behind a backdrop of palm trees. Continue to Cascais, a small fishing village turned luxurious resort town on the Portugal Riviera. Passing through its animated town center you’ll find a cosmopolitan life side by side with stunning Atlantic beaches. After, head to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, where you can gaze out over the Atlantic from the end of the world. Sintra, where hundreds of years of history and culture await, surrounded by lush vegetation. After a short walk in the old city center, find yourself surrounded by the old houses that are now converted into small quaint handicraft shops and traditional pastry shops. Ascend the mountain by shuttle for a visit of the 19th century Pena Palace, Sintra's undisputed highlight, a most incredible combination of architectural styles, colors, and shapes, you'll feel like you've entered a fairytale. Conclude your day with a return to Lisbon. Overnight in Lisboa.   Suggested optional: Pena Park & Palace admission fee.

Day 4: full day Évora tour
Embark on a private full day tour, gaining insight into the cities and natural resources of the Alentejo. Visit Evora and uncover the capital of the Alentejo. Boasting a UNESCO-listed Old Town, Evora is a city overflowing with religious architecture, former palaces and stunning marble fountains. Admire the stonework of the 18th-century Evora Cathedral, and take in the columned remains of the 2,000-year-old Roman Temple. Spot buildings of Portugal's second-oldest university, established in 1559, and visit the aptly named Chapel of Bones, a 16th century Franciscan monk construct, where an incredible number of human skulls and bones decorate the walls. Make your way to a local winery where you'll join a shared visit of their unique facility, including a guided tasting of a pair of wines produced on site. Just as the wines are standing between old wisdom and modern winemaking, the winery is promoting a dialogue between a medieval palace and contemporary architecture. Its style is relaxed and cosmopolitan, with beautiful Evora in its background. Tie a bow on your visit as you're treated to a 7-wines tasting accompanied by assorted delicious regional snacks.

Day 5-Lisboa – Airport Transfer (departure) Flight to São Miguel Island (Azores)
 A 2 and a half hour flight from Lisbon to São Miguel Island. Meet your private driver for transfer to your Hotel Marina Atlântico. Free Afternoon and Overnight in Ponta Delgada.

Day 6: Full day Furnas with Terra Nostra Garden & Lagoa das Furnas
You will be picked up by your private driver-guide, and depart on a full day tour of Furnas, one of the largest communities in the Azores. Head first to Gorreana in the northern region where you'll visit a tea factory and its plantations. A stop at Pico do Ferro viewpoint will also be made, where you can observe the most ancient volcanic crater, the Lagoa das Furnas. Next you will descend to the Furnas valley to Lagoa das Furnas, and have a chance to see how the famous dish “cozido das Furnas” is prepared. Enjoy an included lunch in a local restaurant before continuing on to the famous botanical garden Terra Nostra Park, where you'll have the options to swim in the thermal pool or take a guided tour. Upon returning to your hotel, you will make a stop in Franca do Campo, the first capital of the island. Suggested optional: Sampling Azores Cuisine Menu at Local Restaurant - dinner

Day 7: half day Sete Cidades tour
Depart your hotel with a private vehicle with a driver-guide and head towards the most western part of the Island, where the Mountains and Lakes of ‘Sete Cidades’ are situated. Drive through the Southwest road, along the Coast through green pastures where cattle are grazing. Stop at the Belvedere of ‘Vista do Rei’, one of the most important panoramic spots of the Island, where the Blue and the Green Lakes, an enormous volcanic crater can be seen. Enjoy a hike along the Cumeeiras walking trail and keep your eyes open for exotic species of the Azorean flora. Afterwards you will travel back to the center of Sete Cidades Villages, and return to your hotel in Ponta Delgada.

Day 8: São Miguel – Airport Transfer (departure) Flight to Madeira
 A 2 hour flight from São Miguel to Madeira. Meet your private driver for transfer to your Hotel (VidaMar Resort Hotel). Free Afternoon .

Day 9: Madeira/Pico do Areeiro + wine tasting and lunch Quinta do Furão + poncha tasting Engenho Porto da Cruz
Tour to Pico do Areeiro, a mountain on the island of Madeira, off the coast of Portugal. At 5,965 feet (1,818 meters). The third highest peak on the island and one of its most popular tourist attractions, thanks to incredible summit views and challenging hiking trails. Right after a trip to Santana and Quinta do Furão vineyard  and their Cellar! Here you will find the 4 types of Madeira wine: Sercial, Verdelho, Bual and Malvasia and you will also have the opportunity to know a little more about the history of the same. Taste the four types of wines and have your own opinion! Enjoy a lunch at this Manor Hotel. To finish this fantastic itinerary a guided tour of a sugar cane mill . This is one of the oldest mills on the island in operation, the only one in Europe to use steam as a driving force. Learn more about sugar cane, visit the factory and learn all about the rum production process. If the visit takes place in April or May, when the sugarcane harvest begins, you will be able to observe the factory in production and smell the fermentation. After the visit, the masterclass will take place where you will have the opportunity to taste 7 varieties of rum.

Day 10: Funchal City tour

Discover the city of Funchal and its culture, visit the Funchal Market with its display of tropical fruits, flowers, fish and vegetables. Visit to the Embroidery Factory. Walk along the oldest street of Madeira “Rua de Santa Maria” to discover the old town of Funchal, narrow, cobbled lanes, old buildings with doors painted for talented artists, renovated fishermen´s cottages, restaurants and art and craft shops. Then take the cable car to Monte, admire the wonderful aerial views to the city, visit the Parish church (dates from the 15th century), the beautiful gardens, and if you are brave take an exciting ride down to Funchal (until Livramento) on the famous wicker basket – toboggan – a traditional transport originated in the early 19th century.
