MIUT Legend | 110 km

The flagship race of the MIUT, featuring an impressive 7,200 meters of elevation gain. An epic 110 km journey that demands physical and mental preparation worthy of the challenge.

Between Porto Moniz and Machico, a legendary traverse unfolds through the mountains of Madeira, where every kilometer tests the limits of endurance, determination, and the true spirit of trail running.

 

MIUT Advanced | 80 km

An 80 km mountain race with 4,800 meters of elevation gain. A highly challenging race, designed for experienced athletes, that takes runners along some of Madeira’s most spectacular trails.

Starting at sea level in São Vicente and finishing in Machico, this traverse through the island’s central mountain range tests athletes’ endurance, speed, and determination in an experience that combines the ruggedness of the mountains with the unique beauty of Madeira Island.

 

MIUT Discover | 56 km

A medium-distance race covering 56 km with 2,810 meters of elevation gain. This medium-to-high-difficulty race is designed for experienced trail runners seeking a challenging trail with incredible and highly rewarding scenery.

Starting in Boaventura and climbing the legendary Lombo do Urzal, this trail takes athletes to Machico, crossing mountains, valleys, and ancient laurel forests, in a setting that reveals all the power and beauty of Madeira’s mountains.

 

MIUT Marathon | 40 km

A 40 km race with approximately 1,450 meters of elevation gain. This race is designed for athletes seeking a complete trail running experience without major technical challenges, featuring manageable climbs, fast trails, and incredible scenery along the entire race.

Starting in Monte and passing through Chão da Lagoa, this race traverses diverse landscapes across the island to the finish line in Machico, offering an experience marked by a balance of effort, speed, and breathtaking views of Madeira Island and the Atlantic Ocean.

 

MIUT Starter | 17 km

A 17 km race with 510 meters of elevation gain. An accessible race, ideal for those who want to explore some of the island’s trails over a relatively shorter distance than the other races.

Starting in Porto da Cruz at sea level, the trail follows the coastline through Maiata before climbing toward Larano and the iconic Vereda do Larano, ending in Machico.

 

 

When does registration open for MIUT 2027? What about MIUTBIBTRAVEL?

 

Registration for MIUT 2027 will be open from October 12 to 16, 2026, with a new race distance opening for registration each day, starting with the MIUT Legend on October 12 and ending with the MIUT Starter on October 16.

The registration schedule is as follows:

• October 12 – MIUT Legend
• October 13 – MIUT Advanced
• October 14 – MIUT Discover
• October 15 – MIUT Marathon
• October 16 – MIUT Starter

All registrations open at 3:00 p.m. (GMT+1 | Lisbon Time).

What is MIUTBIBTRAVEL?

The program allows you to request a race bib even after regular registration has closed, limited to the number of available spots.
